  148.   Another change in the compilation of the Top 100 has been introduced. 
  149.   Some readers have mailed me asking why several games in the chart refuse 
  150.   to drop and make room for newer games. They refer to games like Falcon, 
  151.   X-Wing, and of course Civilization. It appears that these games have a 
  152.   number of fans that keep voting for it, which is the reason the games 
  153.   don't leave their positions. Unfortunately this caused the Top 100 to 
  154.   have the same top 3 for 23 weeks (!) in a row.
  155.   
  156.   The readers will understand that such an overly stable list may cause a 
  157.   loss of interest from voters. I know that some people have the feeling 
  158.   that nothing interesting is happening in the chart, and therefore they 
  159.   stop reading it.
  160.   
  161.   It is clear that something should be done about this. For this reason,
  162.   I have introduced a limit for the number of weeks a person may vote for 
  163.   the same game. After some experimenting I found that 26 weeks is a very
  164.   reasonable amount of time. If someone is voting for more than 26 weeks
  165.   for the same game, his votes for this particular game will still be
  166.   registered, but they are not used in the compilation for the Top 100.
  167.   It's like saying to this person "Yes, we know now that you like this
  168.   game, but please give another game a change now. Vote something else.
  169.   Remember this is not an all-time favourites list." Only I don't have the 
  170.   possibility yet to send such personalized mail. :)

  172.   The result of this new rule is already showing in the Top 100: Falcon 3
  173.   and X-Wing are finally making room for new games like Master of Orion 
  174.   and Epic Pinball.
